About Pier Road Coffee & Art
I have been lucky enough to be able to display and sell some of my landscape work at Pier Road Coffee & Art since 2018. Based in Littlehampton town centre, this lovely venue is both an art gallery and shop, as well as a perfect venue to enjoy quality coffee and cake.
The gallery started in November 2017 and is owned by Mike La-Traille, helped by his partner Lucy Harvey.
The gallery exhibits the work of local artists as well as others from around the UK and other parts of Europe.
Mike & Lucy try to work with as many other small businesses as possible, this allows them to be promoted on a wider scale along with the artists. The local handmade cakes from Tideways Sweet Treats, Kay Presgrave and slightly further afield Little Bee Bakes. The gallery also sells locally handmade chocolate from Worthing based Charlenes Chocolate Factory. Artists work is not only exhibited in the gallery but also in other areas in the town such as West Beach Cafe, Hairlucinations and Fitzalan Medical Centre as well as on the website.
The gallery runs a variety of events throughout each month, trying to cater for the tastes of different people, including various art classes, and it provides a place for people to have coffee and enjoy the work and meet the artists who pop in and out.
In November 2019 they were named New Business of the Year 2019 by Arun Business Partnership.
They support the #justacard campaign that is designed to create awareness of small businesses and how to support local independent shops and artists. Just purchasing a card when you visit could make all the difference.
Supporters of the refill water scheme also, means you can just pop in and have your water bottle filled free of charge in a way to try and save the environment.
The gallery is also dog friendly, as long as you keep your dog on a lead and away from the artwork! There’s often a bowl of water outside (or on request), a free dog treat and also dog ice cream for sale.
